The film was released in America under the title of the Trick or Treaters, with the original material shortened and shoe-horned into a Halloween story. Auntie refuses to hand Tiffany over to the Robbers before falling into her pastry-making vat in a fit of insanity and is turned into a cake which the orphans eat. The details accumulate and each one manages to take the movie one step further. I must mention the music of the film, which is so classical and at the same time really original, making the whole experience just even more enjoyable; the song of the robbers fits so inherently that you have the impression that if any robber wants to seem real, they can never sing anything else. It received the audience Award at the , 2008.

I was sitting in a room half packed with adults, half with children, and both groups were giving out hearty laughs, most of the time simultaneously. And though Les Triplettes was originally made for adults and brilliantly for that , this film is thoroughly enjoyable for children, as well. At certain moments, I was reminded of Les Triplettes de Belleville, both in terms of the animation and the slightly peculiar atmosphere of especially the orphanage scenes. Of course, this one is a far cry from the 3D-technique which is increasingly becoming a tradition now. While Tiffany makes the Robbers question what they intend to do with their amassed wealth, she helps them learn to read and write when they want to send a ransom letter. Tiffany is remorseful and leaves in shame to head to the orphanage.

The Three Robbers

It is topped by a queer, bizarre, almost surreal ending, but it is so smoothly integrated into the development of the story, that it is not in the least too scary for children - not any scarier than, for example, the animated version of Snow White and the 7 dwarfs was. This animated film is one of the best I've seen recently, and there've been quite a lot which deserve praise Horton, Kung-fu Panda, Wall-e etc. From them she learns that Auntie places the children in mandatory to harvest and extract the for her pastry-making machine to make her desserts. If you want to return to your childhood world of tales, or you'd like your children to know such stories not only from bedtime readings but also from the big screen, or if you just like tales as they are by definition, I can only recommend this little gem. Tiffany encounters two runaway orphans along the way to the orphanage. The Robbers eventually learn Tiffany lied to them when they found her missing child poster.

After secretly entering the orphanage while the runways are captured, Tiffany exposes Auntie's pastry hoard to the other orphans. The Robbers intercepted a carriage one day, only to find a lonely girl named Tiffany, whose parents died and is being sent to live with a wicked aunt who runs an orphanage. The Robbers then use their wealth to buy the orphanage, which becomes a haven for all uncared children; eventually growing into a large town with its residents revering the Robbers. Not wanting to go to the orphanage, Tiffany tricks the Robbers into believing she was the daughter of a , and is carried off to their hideout. The humour is also excellent, the colours sometimes extraordinarily bright and vivid.

. And though this is not a tale intended to provide multiple-layer meanings to exploit, there are some deeper levels, but these are left entirely for the audience to decipher, the story doesn't force them. Auntie was about to punish Tiffany when the Robbers arrive, revealed to be runaway orphans themselves as they make amends with Tiffany. The success lies in the details of both the story and the resulting composition. Erzähler voice Rest of cast listed alphabetically:.
