Remoulds of sexual organs in bright colors determine a surrealistic eroticism like in Sculpture-Lampe 1970 that is at the same time furniture, sketching gender roles and containing within it a commodity fetishism in the style of pop art. In her sculptural work she focuses strongly on the partial, on individual parts, on traces of the body, its contours, its disappearance. Upon the plateau of a room-size indoor bassin, life-sized sculptures of clay, papier-mâché and wood fuse the faces of Bowie and Barboza into fragmented chimeras. Concert halls are silent — with empty audience chairs, dark stages and no applause resounding. The central reference point of the exhibition is the work of Polish artist Alina Szapocznikow 1926-1973 , which has gained international recognition in recent years.

Louise Bourgeois: The Empty House is realized in collaboration with The Easton Foundation and with the generous support of Hauptstadtkulturfonds. In her tableau of alter-like sculptures and elements of arranged hyper-realism, along with ready-made objects and portraiture, Barboza alludes to human loss and psychological fragmentation, critically questioning contemporary popular culture. What continuities and differences, affinities and desires might emerge from these layerings and juxtapositions and how are they connected to our concepts of body, gender, race or class and our idea of empowerment and emancipation? The exhibits are framed by an architecture specially conceived for the exhibition that in its overall appearance resembles an amoeba, a single cell organism, and which as an independent body carries and encloses the sculptures. Thus the empty sack may suggest an empty house but also symbolize an infertile woman or the bad breast that does not provide milk. The position of Curator at Schinkel Pavillon is open to international applicants.

High level of tact and diplomacy. After her artistic studies in Prague and Paris, she was primarily active in the Paris of the 1960s in the Nouveau Réalisme movement, in which she asserted herself with a feminist attitude. Characterised by a variety of narratives and movements, these divergent feminisms share an understanding of art as a field of antagonistic relationships within socially determined hierarchies. Together with the Managing Director the Curator reports to the Board. For further information please contact: Naxos Audiovisual Division: audiovisual naxos. Please support me with an in German. Led by Nina Pohl, Schinkel Pavillon has grown from a project space to an institution of international significance. But impeding your views of the Cathedral, Alexanderplatz and Unter der Linden's imposing building will be some of the most esoteric and cutting-edge art to be seen in town. The juxtaposition of the aesthetic of the surface with the substance of matter is a recurring theme in the sculptural work of Alina Szapocznikow. A slender pillar of marble fragments stacked on top of each other resembles a spine from which the flesh has fallen away. The sculpture Approximation Snail 2014 is part of an ongoing series in which Novitskova places larger than life cut-outs of animal pictures as props within the exhibition space.

Together with the Curator, the Managing Director reports to the Board. For Bourgeois, the sack form is both an architectonic structure and a representation of the female body in its various aspects of growth and decay, plenitude and incompleteness. Highlighting the multiplicity of feminist tendencies in artistic production over the last century, Straying from the Line weaves a network of references and interconnections between otherwise aesthetically, politically, geographically and historically heterogeneous perspectives. Short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview with the members of the board. For Schinkel Pavillon is an art institution with a tendency to show art from the more cerebral end of the spectrum. Alina Szapocznikow, after Anne Tronche: The lapsus of bodies, in: Alina Szapocznikow — From drawing into sculpture, Editions Dilecta, Centre Pompidou, Paris 2013, p. Straying from the Line presents artistic approaches that explore the political within the personal, the public within the private, and vice versa. Here however, in a reference to organs, tissues and cells for transplantation and assisted reproduction, the prosthetic limbs have mutated and metastasised, taking on an entirely different life. Whether in politics, media, business, science, culture or our daily lives, experiences of sexism, racism, discrimination and other forms of violence and abuse are not only a personal problem, but a political and structural one as well. For the position of Managing Director the Board is seeking an inspirational and experienced executive leader, with excellent organisational skills and the vision and energy to lead Schinkel Pavillon in its next stage of development.
